Our project experience covers a diverse array of clients and projects situations. Examples of some of the projects we have completed are provided below.
A coal mining company located in Central Illinois selected CapX1, LLC to manage the liquidation of numerous used and surplus assets resulting from the closure of its mines. CapX1 provided both Quick Liquidation and Online Consigned Sales for this client during numerous projects over a multi-year period. We were able to identify and secure transactions with buyers for a number of assets that the mine had originally planned to scrap. Our work allowed the mine to realize multiples of its budgeted recovery values for these items.
An industrial development/property management company contacted us to remove five large aluminum product silos from their Herrin, Illinois facility. The property had been converted from manufacturing to warehousing and the silos were no longer needed. CapX1 acquired the silos to provide the property owner with short term liquidity and a single point of contact for the project. We then secured a third party purchaser for the silos. We were responsible for the removal of the silos from our client's location as well as the transport of the silos to the new owner's facility in Indiana.
A large midwestern based industrial developer called upon us to market several large overhead industrial bridge cranes. The former heavy manufacturing facility where the cranes were located was scheduled for renovation into warehouse space and the cranes needed to be removed to facilitate renovation. The client required the buyer to conduct removal activities. CapX1 conducted private treaty sales negotiations from within our network of buyers and brought the transaction to a successful conclusion for our client.
An industrial electrical contractor salvaged several large used oil-filled transformers from a facility renovation project. The client called upon us to manage the liquidation of these units. CapX1 inventoried the units, developed marketing materials, advertised the sale and obtained offers from multiple prospective buyers on behalf of the seller. Once a buyer was selected, and as part of the due diligence process for the sale, we obtained oil samples from each transformer, coordinated the analysis of the samples for PCB content and reported the findings. The sale was successfully concluded and in a manner that documented the client's compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
The owners of a family owned mining machinery manufacturing business selected CapX1 to manage the liquidation of its Mt. Vernon, Illinois plant. The scope of services included the development of a complete inventory of the facility contents along with the development of marketing collateral. We also conducted all advertising and negotiated all sales transactions. This project included the liquidation of a full metal fabrication facility, along with all paint shop, warehouse and office equipment and fixtures.
When an automotive parts manufacturer changed its process, a large drive-through steam humidified industrial curing oven and associated equipment was no longer needed. CapX1 acquired the oven and associated equipment and coordinated the removal of the oven with plant personnel. All rigging and removal activities were conducted within a single shift to facilitate the client's schedule.
Our client had stored a variety of specialty manufacturing process equipment in seven van trailers and was paying a third party monthly rent for the use of each trailer. CapX1 worked with the client's engineering and maintenance manager to develop a component recovery & re-utilization plan for the stored equipment. Components of high value to the client were identified for recovery. The van trailers were transported to our location and our personnel recovered and cataloged targeted components. Cataloged items were stored at our facility and made available to the client's engineering and maintenance personnel on an as needed basis. CapX1, managed the dissemination and delivery of the items as required by our client and the client was able to relinquish the trailers to the rental company.
When a large publicly traded injection molding company closed one of its plants and needed to remove the contents prior to the expiration of its lease, CapX1 purchased the contents of the 200,000 plus square foot facility. We also coordinated the removal of the contents and were responsible for the final clean-up of the plant. Over twenty tractor trailer loads of assets were removed from the facility. Assets acquired included injection molding machines and associated equipment, a full machine shop, chillers, cooling towers and associated equipment, material handling equipment and forklifts, electrical equipment and a wide variety of plant maintenance equipment and MRO supplies.
Good Samaritan Hospital left behind a considerable amount of medical and facility related equipment when it built a new hospital and closed its former campus. We were hired by the demolition contractor to inventory, advertise, negotiate and manage the sale of all remaining salvageable items. We successfully liquidated a host of medical equipment, such as x-ray machines and surgery room lighting. We also liquidated facility infrastructure and support items, such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, switchgear, panel boards, transformers, generators, hoists and air conditioners. We even sold the bathroom wall tile! In addition, we conducted a scrap metal survey and managed the sale of all scrap metal for the demolition contractor allowing it to recover an approximately 20% premium from the sale of scrap metal.
A private utility serving a number of businesses in a large office development in suburban Denver, Colorado called upon us to purchase and remove numerous surplus assets from one of their waste-water treatment facilities. CapX1 acquired and removed numerous items including industrial generators, blowers, engines, HVAC units and air compressors.
